We talked about Contact Hypothesis. The interviewee believed that this was true because being from where she was brought up, gave her a perception of this image. The area she grew up had children that brought up in the area as well. The interviewee mentioned that not all ask for money, some just want the company. We agreed that in any city that are bad areas. Where I personally live, there is a certain spot where homeless people hang out. Not all homeless people are the same, but it's a stereotype that they are portraying themselves as. The interviewee also mentioned that the parents have a big part in what the children believe. They are obviously going to listen to authority, and in this case it's their parents. If we tell a child, homeless people are all bad, that's what they are going to stick to. Instead, as a parent, you need to educate your child and let them know why they are in the situation, and as a human race, what can we do to help. Even though, the interviewee lived down south and I am from the central valley, we still seem to see homelessness occur regardless where you are from.
