Emily Stubblefield

I read through Eminem's Construction of Authenticity. I enjoyed this article more than any of the ones I've read this semester because it was finally something I could really understand and relate to since I listen to his music. It was a lot about how he's himself and how he sees his rap. I throughly enjoyed reading about how he looked up to Vanilla Ice's music and persona but found out all the things he rapped about were lies. He didn't live the type of life in his music, it was only a fake story to connect to certain listeners. Eminem was really let down by this, he talked about how his music is real and doesn't believe you should lie about it. He often got looked down on for being a "white rapper" but he didn't let it bother him because he's good at what he does and enjoys it. He doesn't see his race as being an issue.
