Fry

Janelle Fry,

I interviewed a classmate on 9/24/2014 regarding a documentary we watched in class about Skim Row in Los Angeles. The documentary was called "Lost Angels: Skim Row is my Home". After learning about the Cultural Diamond in class, I asked my classmate how the cultural diamond makes sense of this piece of culture. She had good ideas relating the cultural diamond to the documentary. One thing that she talked about was how proud the producers were of Skim Row. They had pride in it when everyone from the outside does not look at it positively. She also discussed the problems with helping the homeless. It is hard to offer to help them when they do not want help. This provides a dilemma in solving homelessness.

  1. It is interesting to me that the homeless are proud to be from Skid Row. I would not that thought that to be the case. They felt like it was home to them and were comfortable there.
