The first interview I completed went faster than expected. My interviewee was knowledgeable of all subjects discussed and answered all free response questions to the best of their ability. For the first subject we talked about music and my interviewee grew up with oldies rock. I figured out later in the interview that my participant was born in 1957. On crime and police my participant answered on occasion towards police officers misbehaving. The issues of homeless, inequality, and poverty seemed more personal with my interviewee and my participant opened up during these topics. According to the recordings, I found that my participant believes in the power of the individual and people need to make choices that benefit them. My interviewee stresses the importance of education towards kids at a young age and family values that all kids need. Towards the end of the interview my participant described himself as a middle class Hispanic republican who goes to church weekly and is a living example of an individual who started with nothing.
