required participation assignment

As part of the participation grade in the course, you need to participate in the hunger and homelessness awareness week.  There are two required parts of this participation:

1) You will need to signup for two periods of 30 minutes each when you will be at a table where you can talk to passerby about our findings regarding homelessness and hunger.  Tabling will occur in the free speech area on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (Nov 17-21) from 10am-4pm.

2) Present part of the research you conducted this semester on homelessness or hunger, via an oral presentation of about 5 minutes,

This will occur during your regular classtime, when we will meet either in HML 2206 or Music 160, depending on the dates and times:

            2-330pm on Monday Nov 17 in M160  (Popular culture - Soc 142 - day class)

            7-10pm on Monday Nov 17 in HML 2206 (Popular culture - Soc 142 - night class)

             2-330pm on Wed Nov 19th in M160 (Popular culture - Soc 142 - day class)

Students are expected to be present during the entirely of their respective classtimes in order to learn from classmates and provide a supportive audience for classmate presentations.

Presentations will be given during your classtime, but you still will need to signup for a specific 5 minute time slot. I will provide a signup sheet in the next week or two.

There will be a signup not just for times, but also for topics:  Half of the class will present on homelessness, and half will present on hunger. 

You are encouraged to attend other events during the week at your leisure.  A schedule will be distributed.
