Music Selections

Lyrics on both songs

The first song I chose was Eminem's "White America" for the colorblindness and cultural appropriation of hip-hop article. Eminem, in this song, reminds me of the kids in the article, not acknowledging systems of power that are associated with race even as they sort of talk about it.

The second song I chose was "Train in Vain" by the Clash for the "Punk's not Dead" article, because it notes the Clash as one of the precursors to the more modern ska-punk scene, so it felt like a bridge between the young generation and the older generation.
